چکیده

Background: Spinal anaesthesia is the most commonly employed anaesthetic technique for infraumbilical surgeries. Post spinal hypotension a encountered complication which can lead to organ under perfusion and ischemia. Severe episodes of intraoperative have been proposed as an independent risk factorin development postoperative adverse outcomes prolonged hospital stay. However, there are no reliable methods determine patients at induced hypotension. This study investigated whether preoperative ultrasound guided inferior venacava collapsibility index (IVC-CI) could predict following anaesthesia. Objectives were measure compare incidence among with IVC-CI>50% IVC-CI<50%. Materials Methods: prospective observational was conducted in department anaesthesia, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Mangalore during period between October 2016 2018. After ethical committee approval informed consent, 73 belonging “American society Anesthesiology” (ASA) grade I & II, aged 18 65 years, scheduled elective surgeries require selected. Preoperative ultrasonography done IVC-CI these patients. All ultrasonographic examinations performed by same anaesthesiologist.

Perfusion index as a predictor of hypotension following spinal anaesthesia in lower segment caesarean section

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Perfusion index (PI) is a new parameter tried for predicting hypotension during spinal anaesthesia for the lower segment caesarean section (LSCS). This study aimed at investigating the correlation between baseline perfusion index and incidence of hypotension following SAB in LSCS. METHODS In this prospective observational study, 126 parturients were divided into two groups...

Preoperative deep vein thrombosis in patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy scheduled for spinal surgery

INTRODUCTION The prevalence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and its risk factors in patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) before spinal surgery are poorly understood. We investigated this association with a retrospective cross-sectional study. PATIENTS CONCERNS The study cohort consisted of all consecutive patients with CSM who were scheduled for spinal surgery at our institution ...

Perfusion index derived from a pulse oximeter can predict the incidence of hypotension during spinal anaesthesia for Caesarean delivery.

BACKGROUND Hypotension during spinal anaesthesia for Caesarean delivery is a result of decreased vascular resistance due to sympathetic blockade and decreased cardiac output due to blood pooling in blocked areas of the body. Change in baseline peripheral vascular tone due to pregnancy may affect the degree of such hypotension. The perfusion index (PI) derived from a pulse oximeter has been used...
